Theme of the chapter:-

  • The present short story A Pinch of Snuff, taken from Contemporary Indian Short Stories in English, is full of wit and adventure.In this story a character Nanukaka wants to meet some ministers and finally he becomes successful in it.

 

Important Notes:-

  • Nanukaka is coming to Delhi to see some ministers.
  • The narrator goes to pick him.Nanukaka brought a kitten with him.
  • The narrator is an under-secretary on probation.
  • Secretary thinks they are one step higher than god and leader to be 2 step.
  • The next day the narrator takes Nanukaka to the north block but he could not meet.
  • On returning they meet Ratiram the son of Sohanlal who works in the same ministry of the naarator.
  • They now go to meet Sohanlal as a zamindar and dodges him to be the friend of Barkat Ali.
  • Sohanlal is impressed and tells him about his son’s marriage to welfare minister’s daughter but the welfare ministerrefuses.
  • Later Sohan lal goes to meet welfare minister in the guise of an astrologer of Maharaja of Ninnore.
  • But he return without meeting him and he writes the narrator’s address on the visitor book of the welfare minister.
  • As soon as the welfare minister sees the address he comes to meet Nanukaka,his mission accomplished and after staying a day he returns to his native place Maharashtra.

  • लौटने पर उनकी मुलाकात सोहनलाल के बेटे रतिराम से होती है जो कथावाचक के ही मंत्रालय में काम करता है।
  • अब वे एक जमींदार के रूप में सोहनलाल से मिलने जाते हैं और उसे बरकत अली का दोस्त बनने के लिए चकमा देते हैं।
  • सोहनलाल प्रभावित होता है और उसे कल्याण मंत्री की बेटी से अपने बेटे की शादी के बारे में बताता है लेकिन कल्याण मंत्री इनकार कर देते हैं।
  • बाद में सोहन लाल निन्नौर के महाराजा के ज्योतिषी के भेष में कल्याण मंत्री से मिलने जाते हैं।
  • लेकिन वह उनसे मिले बिना लौट आता है और कल्याण मंत्री की आगंतुक पुस्तिका पर कथावाचक का पता लिख देता है।
  • जैसे ही कल्याण मंत्री पता देखते हैं, वह नानुकाका से मिलने आते हैं, उनका मिशन पूरा हो जाता है और एक दि
  • न रुकने के बाद वह अपने मूल स्थान महाराष्ट्र लौट जाते हैं।
