Theme of the chapter:-

  • In this short story, the author has shown the laziness of the parents and the growing selfishness of their child who eventually drives them out of the house.

 

Important Notes:-

  • All that the Johnson had was a 2 wheeled cart, a bony brown mare, tools and a son Benjy.
  • Johnson was more interested in his fields.
  • Johnson was a farmer and also a local preacher by profession.
  • Benjy was a simple-minded boy.
  • Benjy’s parents took Benjy to a doctor who advised them to indulge Benjy in some work.
  • Benjy left school at the age of 14.
  • He started poultry and soon became a rich businessman .
  • He bought the land from sanders where his father has been the tenant for about 40 years.
  • Benjy’s simplicity gradually turned to have become cunning.
  • When Benjy was 21,his father handed him a passbook.

  • Benjy’s parents did not like Florence because she was ugly.

  • अंततः बेन्जी ने अपने माता-पिता को घर से निकाल दिया और उन्हें एक अजीब फुटपाथ पर छोड़ दिया।
