About the Poet :-

                      Rupert Brooke was born in a well-to-do academic family in England in 1887. His father was a housemaster at Rugby School. He was a student of Rugby School. Then he went to King’s College Cambridge. According to W. B. Yeats, he was the handsomest young man in England. He was a young warrior but he died on 23 April 1915. He was a war poet who inspired patriotism in the early phase of the first world war. 

Summary:-

               ‘The Soldier’ has been composed by Rupert Brooke. It is a good sonnet that is full of patriotism. Here the poet expresses his feelings on his country. He is a young soldier but he dislikes quarrelling. The poet is the handsomest young man in England. He is a soldier and he goes in war. He thinks when he dies, he must be placed in a corner of the field in England. If he dies in foreign and his body is buried there, it would be also the place of England. He thinks so because his body of England is there. He praises England and everything of England. He says that his country has given him birth, made him matured and given love, rivers to wash ways to move, blessings of sun and fresh air to breathe etc. He wants that there should not be quarrelling. Everybody must not have evils in his mind. His heart begins to beat and he likes to live in peaceful country. He does not like the war between two countries. He thinks if there is no war in England or in any other country then it is like the heaven. He is proud of England and the gentleness of his country-men. Se we can say that the poet expresses his great love for his country. This is full of patriotism.
