About the Poet :- 

                          W.H.Auden was born in England in 1907. He left England in 1939 and settled in United States. He was versatile. He was a poet, verse dramatist, critic, translator and editor. Poetry was a serious game for him. He didn’t want to hurt people. His early poems were based on political affair but his later poems were based on Christian. His work is divided into British and American phases. His works are – The Orator, The Dance of Death, Look Stranger, The New year Letter, For the Time being etc. He died in 1973

 

Summary:- 

                   ‘Now the Leaves Are Falling Fast' has been composed by W. H. Auden. Inthis poem, the poet expressed the frustration inherent in human life. He says that man does not fulfil his all desires but he has to die one day. 

 Here the poet gives the example of falling leaves from tree. He says that leaves begin to fall fast in the autumn season and flower will not last. They will go to the grave. It means that they will decay, their life ends. It shows that life-cycle goes on like pram (four wheels baby carries) goes rolling on. The messenger of death comes and takes us away from the world. According to him, death is sure. So everybody has to die. After death, all go to the grave. The poet gives the example trolls that disturb the gentlemen. They run after their food but get nothing to eat. The nightingale is also mum. No one comes to help anybody. At last the poet says that cold stretches, the head of mountain is covered with snow. White water-fall is seen. All the things look like the travellers in the end of life. So the poet says that in the last stage of life, the oldman feels loneliness. He becomes inactive and dies.

कवि के बारे में:- 

                          डब्ल्यू.एच.ऑडेन का जन्म 1907 में इंग्लैंड में हुआ था। उन्होंने 1939 में इंग्लैंड छोड़ दिया और संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका में बस गए। वह बहुमुखी प्रतिभा के धनी थे. वह एक कवि, पद्य नाटककार, आलोचक, अनुवादक और संपादक थे। कविता उनके लिए एक गंभीर खेल थी। वह लोगों को चोट नहीं पहुँचाना चाहता था। उनकी प्रारंभिक कविताएँ राजनीतिक प्रसंगों पर आधारित थीं लेकिन उनकी बाद की कविताएँ ईसाई धर्म पर आधारित थीं। उनका काम ब्रिटिश और अमेरिकी चरणों में विभाजित है। उनकी कृतियाँ हैं- द ओरेटर, द डांस ऑफ डेथ, लुक स्ट्रेंजर, द न्यू ईयर लेटर, फॉर द टाइम बीइंग आदि1973 में उनकी मृत्यु हो गई

 

सारांश:- 

                   'नाउ द लीव्स आर फ़ॉलिंग फ़ास्ट' की रचना डब्ल्यू एच ऑडेन ने की है। इस कविता में कवि ने मानव जीवन में निहित निराशा को व्यक्त किया है। उनका कहना है कि मनुष्य अपनी सभी इच्छाएं पूरी नहीं करता बल्कि उसे एक दिन मरना ही पड़ता है। 

यहाँ कवि पेड़ से गिरते पत्तों का उदाहरण देता है। उनका कहना है कि पतझड़ के मौसम में पत्तियां तेजी से गिरने लगती हैं और फूल टिक नहीं पाते। वे कब्र में जायेंगे. इसका अर्थ है कि वे सड़ जायेंगे, उनका जीवन समाप्त हो जायेगा। यह दर्शाता है कि जीवन-चक्र उसी तरह चलता है जैसे प्रैम (बच्चों को ले जाने वाले चार पहिये) चलता है। मृत्यु का दूत आता है और हमें संसार से दूर ले जाता है। उनके अनुसार मृत्यु निश्चित है। तो हर किसी को मरना होगा. मरने के बाद सभी कब्र में जाते हैं। कवि ट्रॉल्स का उदाहरण देता है जो सज्जनों को परेशान करते हैं। वे अपने भोजन के पीछे भागते हैं लेकिन उन्हें खाने के लिए कुछ नहीं मिलता। बुलबुल भी माँ है. कोई किसी की मदद करने नहीं आता. अंत में कवि कहता है कि ठंड फैली हुई है, पहाड़ का सिर बर्फ से ढका हुआ है। श्वेत जल-प्रपात देखने को मिलता है। सभी चीजें जीवन के अंत में यात्रियों की तरह दिखती हैं। तो कवि कहता है कि जीवन के अंतिम पड़ाव में बूढ़े को अकेलापन महसूस होता है। वह निष्क्रिय हो जाता है और मर जाता है।
