About the Poet:-

                 Walter De La Mare was born in the village of Charlton in Kent England in 1873. His father died when he was four years old. Then he went to London with his family. He was a poet of children and supernatural. He was honoured for his merit by Elizabeth II in 1953. He died in 1956.

 

Summary:

        'An Epitaph' has been composed by Walter De La Mare. In This poem, the poet expresses his sad feeling for the lady whom he loved so much.Here the poet weeps bitterly at the grave. He thinks for the lady who is lying in the grave. He says that she was a very beautiful lady in the West Country, but she is no more now. He feels that she used to move at that place but she spent her last hour there itself and now she is in the grave. According to him, beauty vanishes or passes but such beautiful lady is rare in the West Country. He is very sad and says that nobody will remember her after his death. He remembers her and weeps. He says that she should not leave him because he loved her so much. At last, we can say that poet had much love for her so he could not bear the sense of separation forever.

                 वाल्टर डी ला मारे का जन्म 1873 में केंट इंग्लैंड के चार्लटन गांव में हुआ था। जब वह चार साल के थे, तब उनके पिता की मृत्यु हो गई। फिर वह अपने परिवार के साथ लंदन चले गए। वे बालक और अलौकिक कवि थे। उनकी योग्यता के लिए उन्हें 1953 में एलिजाबेथ द्वितीय द्वारा सम्मानित किया गया था1956 में उनकी मृत्यु हो गई।

 

सारांश:

        'एन एपिटैफ़' की रचना वाल्टर डी ला मारे ने की है। इस कविता में, कवि उस महिला के प्रति अपनी दुखद भावना व्यक्त करता है जिससे वह बहुत प्यार करता था। यहाँ कवि कब्र पर फूट-फूट कर रोता है। वह उस महिला के बारे में सोचता है जो कब्र में पड़ी है। उनका कहना है कि वह पश्चिमी देश की एक बेहद खूबसूरत महिला थीं, लेकिन अब वह नहीं रहीं। उसे लगता है कि वह उस स्थान पर घूमती रहती थी लेकिन उसने अपना अंतिम समय वहीं बिताया और अब वह कब्र में है। उनके अनुसार सुंदरता लुप्त हो जाती है या समाप्त हो जाती है लेकिन ऐसी सुंदर महिला पश्चिम देश में दुर्लभ है। वह बहुत दुखी है और कहता है कि उसकी मौत के बाद उसे कोई याद नहीं करेगा। वह उसे याद करता है और रोता है। वह कहता है कि उसे उसे नहीं छोड़ना चाहिए क्योंकि वह उससे बहुत प्यार करता है। अंत में, हम कह सकते हैं कि कवि को उससे बहुत प्यार था इसलिए वह हमेशा के लिए अलगाव की भावना को सहन नहीं कर सका।
